Biodiversity Action - bulb planting in City gardens
Every autumn, volunteers plant bulbs in City gardens to enhance spring and summer nectar, particularly for early emerging bumble bees. Native species that naturalise well have been planted in Bunhill Fields (snowdrops, winter aconites, wild garlic, native bluebells and daffodils). Every year we add to planting in Bunhill Fields.
In Postman’s Park we have planted bulbs with the local cub scouts.
Barbican, Golden lane and Mansell Street residents have all planted bulbs donated by the Metropolitan Public Gardens Association Bulbs for London programme and we have also planted MPGA bulbs in St Botolph’s Bishopsgate and St Paul’s Cathedral gardens and the Brewer’s Hall garden.
