Native Hedge in Bunhill Fields

One of the biodiversity enhancements FoCG has implemented in Bunhill Fields is a 200 metre long hedge of native species selected as source of good forage and shelter for birds.

The hedge was initially planted in spring 2013 and is now well established after annual thickening up with new whips. We have been donated over 400 young trees from the Woodland Trust and more from Ovo Energy in 2016.

The hedge comprises a mix of hawthorn, blackthorn, hazel, silver birch, rowan, common oak, goat willow, guelder rose and wayfaring tree saplings.
