Weekly volunteer groups

Our volunteers meet on Tuesday and Sunday mornings at Bunhill Fields Burial Grounds. Gloves, tools and training are all provided. To find out more about our fun, friendly sessions and for details of how to join, get in touch.

Tempo Time Credits

Volunteers with Friends of City Gardens can earn Tempo Time Credits, which can be spent with local partners including the Barbican Cinema and More Yoga. Find out more here.

FAQs

  • Yes, tools, gloves and other PPE depending on the tasks are all provided

  • Our volunteers undertake a range of tasks, from wildlife surveys to bulb planting, weeding and digging out compost. Friends of City Gardens is open to everyone, so while some tasks are physically demanding, there’s always an opportunity for everyone to participate fully.

  • Absolutely. All skill levels are welcome. All sessions are supervised and we hold regular training throughout the year.

  • Yes, we sometimes run sessions at other gardens such as Church Entry or Barber Surgeons Meadow. Any changes of location will be communicated the day before.

  • Yes, volunteers are covered by our public liability insurance.
