The Secret History of the Watts Memorial

Heroes of Postman’s Park: Evening talk 13 May 2016

This was a first for FoCG – an after hours event in a City garden with exclusive access for ticket holders. Over 80 people attended the event, where Dr John Price of Goldsmiths College, author of Heroes of Postman’s Park: Heroic Self-Sacrifice in Victorian London, gave a guided tour and talk on the Watts Memorial, revealing the fascinating back stories of those who died so tragically saving others.

This was also the launch of the Friends of the Watts Memorial, whose aim is to complete the monument as George Frederick Watts originally intended.
